Hope on the Horizon FAQ
What to expect?
The Hope on the Horizon Summer Outreach program is designed to introduce young people to the life of a street missionary, sharing a life of prayer and service with others who go out into the streets bringing the love of Jesus to the homeless in downtown Vancouver.
Participants will live a communal life, praying, learning, and reaching out to our homeless friends on the streets. In addition, there will be street outreach training, faith formation and personal skills development. We will also enjoy recreational activities together.
Food and accommodation will be provided.
When & where?
When: Six weeks (July 14 - Aug 22, 2025)
Where: We focus our outreach efforts in downtown Vancouver. The Hope on the Horizon program also offers additional recreational activities allowing participants to explore greater Vancouver and lower mainland!
Who can apply?
Young adults 19 - 30 who would like to serve Jesus in the poor. No experience is required. Training is provided. No matter where you are from this program is open for those within and outside of Canada.
Is there financial support?
Bursaries and/or fundraising are available to approved applicants. We firmly believe that every person who feels called to this program, regardless of financial situation or where they are from, should have the opportunity to participate as a street missionary.
We work directly with participants through our mentorship and financial programs, giving them access to resources that should remove any financial barriers. Reach out for further questions. Sponsors will receive a tax receipt.
